£200 per day congestion charge
Discussion
Do you or your company deliver goods to central and West London by truck? Well from February 2008 it may very well cost you an inflation pummeling £200
if 'red' Ken Livingstone has his way. This will ONLY apply to trucks that dont meet (i,m not 100% sure on this) euro3 emmision regs this I believe will affect older trucks and is due to the poor air quality. Now I've no doubt that those of a green tint will be heralding such a tax blissfully and stupidly unaware that they will pay in the end as companys pass the added costs on to there customers and all in the most expensive ,and rising, city on Earth.
So absolutely nothing to do with commie oops sorry Ken's fume spouting buses then?
Story should be on BBC London news tonight.

It’s not just central and West London, it covers the whole of Greater London.
The most worrying part of all this is that they will be using the same APNR system as used for the congestion zone. So once the infrastructure is in place how long will it be before the congestion tax covers the whole of London?
Within days they will be moaning about the cost of implementing the system and have to recoup the cost somehow, ‘Oh, I know lets extend the congestion zone that’ll cover it’ didn’t see that one coming did we

The FSB conducted a survey about this a few months ago... It seems plans are in place to shaft us... TFL have a large tub of gritty Swarfega in their hands.
A couple of months after C-charging was introduced, a guy "calling from TFL" requested "just a few moments" of my time to see how the zone charging is affecting my business... "It's a survey on behalf of TFL, sir" he told me.
To cut a long stroy short, I declined. In a Victor Meldrew / Snoop Doggy Dog Stylee.

I pity small retail businesses. Mayor Ken "Small Business Killer" Livingstone.
Its not just small business.
A lot of markets, particularly electronics, work in a state of near perfect competition.
If all of a sudden you're having to factor £200 a day to drop in London in such a competitive market then passing it onto the consumer is easier said than done. The impact of this could be massive.
The newt loving twunt.
Red Ken is putting the Looney well and truely back into the Looney Left isn't he. Remember back to when he introduced the charge in the begining. He wanted to make it £15 for everyone and relucantly set it lower. I am sure he fantasises about charging vast sums in the future.
I am sure if Ken and his fellow communists had their way they would bang up those that made this (see link below) but while we are still free to share our views.....

shame I only just found out about this. Ken Liarstone was on BBC Radio London this morning with his usual attempts at having an answer for everything, making out that all is rosy with his policies. I'd have emailed the link to the studio.
oh he was saying how either him or one of his grunts is flying to some meeting in america on global warming and he anticipates that there will be initiatives will come out of it that are bigger and better than before to deal with climate change. so expect new, higher taxes, then.

Ah I guess he will fly there on a magic carpet.
Ken likes to play the international ambassador himself visiting Cuba last year and also recieving a gift for the poor of London from president Chavez.... A gift of oil to be used in those nice clean buses giving certain Londoners free travel.
So someone commuting to work is killing the planet, but some chav making a journey they wouldnt have due to it being free is not.

Yea, the doughtystreet video is great isn;t it. I thought it did him justice. Ken probably emits more carbon per year than most, the hypocrite! Think of all those London cabs he leaves waiting for him outside his offices with the engine (and the meter) running while his oh so important meetings over run by half an hour or so.
Not to mention all the flights to the remaining communist states to visit their leaders and discuss politics with them. Then the times he flies the oppressing mass murders to the UK to celebrate communism.
I am sure if Ken was living in 1960s america the FBI would have made him dissapear pretty quickly!

I have no shadow of doubt that this is the underlying aim. What galls me is Ken's use of "consultation" to in some way democratize what he's doing - which to my mind is, in essence, skirting around the limitations on his power as mayor to raise revenue by simply inventing new taxes just for London. The most worrying part of all this is that they will be using the same APNR system as used for the congestion zone. The fact that over 70% of respondents were against the extension of the Kengestion zone didn't appear to matter, at least they were "Kensulted"
Likewise I wouldn't be surprised to see him steamrollering over public opinion on this later down the line. As I have said before, I fully expect this to be introduced with a high emission level and publicised as affecting only the very worst commercial polluters. Then, the threshold will be incrementally reduced until your car will have to be absorbing CO2 and churning out oxygenated fairies before you'll be able to drive for free within Greater London.
I always thought the public highways were owned by the State (or the Crown) for the benefit of everyone. Why should Ken be allowed to tax people off them?
