Ok Guys and Guru's

was speaking to DonnyMac and it seems a Cerb he's been looking at has Electric Power Steering...now this is new one to me, aparently it doesn't have a fliud res'voir as such, but an electric mo'a...so as I'm a hydraulics personage myself, I don't see how this can be, are we talking 'cogs and belts' ...doubt it. I know the PS pump will be electrically driven but this should still pump fluid.

So c'mon chaps please put me out of my misery and explain how it works it to a dumbass, is this some kind of alternatitive mod thingy?

Still uses hydraulic pressure - same rack and all. Differnce is simply the pump is powered electrically as oppose to mechanically. A few people have done this when the woodruff key on the PAS pump shears - in order to replace it, its generally considered an engine out op, although I belive at least one person has managed the job with the engine in. A simpler fix is to drop in an electric pump. Nothing to worry about in my opinion!

Certainly also heard of it as an alternative to fixing broken normal setup - back of my head says something like a Citroen unit is often used, could have that bit wrong though. Again it wouldn't overly concern me as a purchaser.

Joolz originated this mod I believe, which mirrors the electric pump setup used on Tamoras (and possibly other later TVRs).

Std fit to later TVR's and I have it on my Cerb as it was easier/cheapr to do than repair the engine driven pump.

It was a cheaper alternative to getting the normal one repaired, and was done by Jools. Not sure whether the kit was off a french car...citroen!!

Yes, many thanks Cooky.

leaving in two hours back to Lowestoft with the Guy you recommended.

Looked at his profile yesterday and some of his postings - you've hooked me up with a TVR god.

Any chance you can PM/Email me with your address - I'd like to send a little appreciation in the post?

Thanks again.
