The first online auction of Ferrari memorabilia, comprising original Ferrari F1 components, takes place on the Ferrari website this afternoon (10th May) from three o’clock.

A total of five items will go under the hammer:

  • the front wing with side plates from the F2004 World Championship-winning car
  • the rear wing side plate and the closed aerodynamic cooling left side panel from the World Championship-winning F2003-GA
  • the gearbox gears from the F2001 World Championship car
  • the rear BBS Wheel Ferrari from the F1-2000 World Champion, complete with original red metal Scuderia Ferrari flight case.

The authenticity of the components is guaranteed by a certificate of origin signed by Ferrari CEO Jean Todt. The auctions are open to all, with potential bidders needing to register with the site, then log in at the MyFerrariStore.com section and accept the terms and conditions of sale.

The Ferrari web shop offers a wide and varied selection of articles for sale ranging in price from a mouse pad for £6.40 to an F1 engine with a price tag of £32,378.

The auction finishes at five pm on Monday (21st May).

32k for an F1 engine?? seems rather cheap to me? thought they would have been well in the hundreds of thousands? the engineering behind them is phenomenal. anyone else think this could be wrong? lol.

busta,

apparently Ferrari designed the wheels with the Corsa in mind so should fit straight on!

Probably an engine that has raced or been used in testing. The components will have been thoroughly fatigued and will be at breaking point so the actual value to Ferrari will be scrap metal. If you were to try running it (assuming you had all the subsystems it needs ready to hook up) it woud likely blow up, throw a rod or just seize in no time.

It the perfect ornamament though, who needs a pot plant!

32k for an engine does sound cheap im guessing it wont have all the parts that are needed for it to run.
