I don't think, and its just a feeling, that they are 100% committed to the C-XF and are waiting to see how the wind blows. There is a lot at stake, because the current 'traditional' range still has a lot of support. I personally am not sure if we are looking at CG images, a mock up or a running car. I find it quite difficult to come to a conclusion about the car because its so difficult to see it in the round. It may be fantastic. I would hate to think that its going to look like a Lexus.
Aren't they were launching the XF with the 4.2 S/C as the standard engine? I would then expect them to stick the the 2.7 oil burner in as the eco. choice, ditching the 3.0ltr V6 unit. Maybe/hopefully jag will get hold of that V8D from LR and stick it in the XJ, maybe even the XK and the XF at some point. Who knows, I don't think jag know either.
really looking forward to seeing the car, I hope they don't spoil it like the XK, with and I quote EVO mag. 'Crass design details'. Make a quality product that will knock the socks off the competition in terms of style and reliability!

The guy in the group here that appear to be in the know about Jaguar/LR/Ford engineering have repeated said that the V8D won't physically fit into any the Jaguar range. It doesn'tgo between the suspension towers and engineering things to fit it in would mean chucking out all the "Jaguarness" of the ride and handling. I guess the production numbers that Jaguar were looking at didn't make it an important enough customer internally to warrant the engine being designed to fit into the Jaguar engine bay.
I do remember something about Jaguar looking again at fitting an I6 under the bonnet. I guess it will be the Volvo one. I hope they do some substantial work on it first. I drove an XC90 in the US a few weeks ago which I guess had the I6 engine and to my mind the torque curve was far too top endy for a Jaguar.

The XKR-R has been much talked about and I guess there is no smoke without fire. Think the XKR is supposed to launch next year?? So is this because AM has left the fold, how will they do the range.
The XF is supposed to be launched with the 4.2S/C as standard and a more suped up model will form the XF-R, so what of the norm-aspirated 4.2 in the new XK do you think it will be ditched and the 4.2S/C be the base engine, (like the XF) with the 500BHP+ XKR-R being the normal 'XKR' if you see what I mean. I can't see why Jag would want a 300BHP 4.2, a 420BHP 4.2S/C and then a 500-ishBHP 4.2??S/C. One of them needs to go maybe the 420BHP 4.2S/C?
Soz forgot about the V8D not fitting the Jags, guess there will be lots of work on the 2.7D? I6 interesting.................
What you think?

Pleased to hear it.
Seems an odd decision to build a fantastic diesel V8 so it won't fit in a key upcoming car. I have driven the Range Rover with the 3.6 V8 and it IS fantastic. But this is academic to me because if I'm driving an XF I'll be driving one of the petrol engined models.

I really don't see Jag rushing to put out an XKR-R at the moment, the XK and XKR have been very successful and Jag need to succeed with the XF and new XJ replacement to secure their future, I can't see them throwing away money making a 500 bhp XKR-R that they don't really need.

i recon to keep an eye out at Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. recon if jag have a car there it will be a 500BHP+ motor.
The XKR-R will be, it will be launched with the re-introduction of Jaguar Racing Green as a colour. (Allegedly!) Thats why I can't see why the 420BHP is for, but as I suspect they are going after 911 Turbo / GT3 owners so the car will be similarly priced in the +£80k's me thinks, while the XKR will be to match the 997S and the XK for the Carrera 2. But will Porsche buyers be tempted???
G
I think that they do need the XKR-R, and not just for Goodwood. That's a bit like the XJ220 - Look boys here's a £200,000 supercar - er so what? They need something that will take on a GT3 and not be embarrassed to sound a bit rorty and rattle you about a bit. it will only be bought by people who want that. I've been typing myself hoarse making that point.
Also, how hard can it be? Racing Green or Paramount could just about do it could they not?
