You may, you may not.
It totally depends on who sees you & how busy they are at that time.

If I saw one stuck on a Rover, I'd pull it.

i would stop you for it, I have done in past for similar cases. They are not road legal unless your car is of a certain age. To get one on your car would be taking the p155 and you know it!

If you put one on i hope your car gets nicked and the thieves escape because a police ANPR camera fails to read your dodgy illegal plate!

Number plate legislation is there for a reason. Would you want a hit and run driver who ran your kid over to get away with it because the police had previously ignored his chavved up illegal plate and as a result the witness to the accident couldnt read it as it made off from the scene of the accident?

Did you get out of the wrong side of bed or something??

The OP asked for advice/opinion and you go and throw all of your toys out of the pram WTF.... Chill Winston!!

If you have something to say, keep it relevant, whats the point on trying to guilt trip the OP over a fictious hit and run when all they asked was if they would get pulled over for having it...

Is the ANPR system unable to read this type of plate?

I've been thinking of getting a set of black & silver plates for the Mini.

May not be quite as obvious on a Mini

RAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH IM SPARTACUSSSS!!!!!

anyways, ive got brand new pressed steel plates on my 1970's car they are clearly visable, ready for that ficticous moment where I kill several innocent children becuase im racing like nigel mansell through the estates locally.

not bothered about ANPR recognising the plates, my car is legit but if they where less visable to SPECS or GATSO etc, that would be a good thing, no ?

Depends if it had been stolen and they were looking for it for you, but there must have been some reason for changing to the reflective type.

LOL do they teach that sermon at bib school, thats more or less WORD FOR WORD (*change kid for wife*) what the bib said to me when I was pulled for "incorrect spacing on my plate" which of course wasn't at all dangerous stopping on the hard shoulder of the m25 during rush hour, oh no.
(the car was a renault spider, so hardly a car they wouldn't be able to find, only 150 posibilities)

Not as easily in all situations, that's why the regs for conformity are there.

What is the case for ex-military vehicles which were originally fitted with the old style plates by the MoD but were made after 1973?

You know it's illegal. It's possible that you will get pulled and fined for it. If you fit them, and get tugged, take it on the chin. Simple.

id expect to get pulled for it & tbh i think old style plates look crap on new cars. a car that 'could' be old enough for them is different ie a mini, they can look good on those.

Does that mean that SPECS and ANPR can't read the plates on my 1964 Mini Cooper 'S'?
