countach for sale on p/heads

If you're still looking, I have a friend with an early RHD LP400S (S2 i.e. more headroom). It has a poor paint but underneath it looks clean. The interior is worn but original. He owned through the late eighties; lost it over a divorce and subsequently repurchased it. He is now into smaller cars and I think he would consider parting with it, and certainly for less than your quoted 40K.
Colour - Yellow / Cream/brown interior
36,000 miles (58,000 Km)
I don't seem to be able to post pictures here (novice !) although the passenger at the Brighton Lambo event last year took some pictures of it. One of my favourites is http://img45.imageshack.us/img_viewer ... watch for the wrap... although you can see more of the car in the set ...
http://img301.imageshack.us/gal.php?g (It is the only yellow Coutach in the set)
Personally, I thought the car was far better when it was blue and had better lines without the silly wing ..

Looking at the photos, it apears that the car may also have been metallic bronze at some time?...any idea what colour it was originally?
Yes, The car was originally gold with yellow wheels. It was stripped to bare metal/dismantled at IAD and painted Corvette black sapphire (originally with silver wheels and finally white). The wing was removed at that time but an intervening owner replaced it.
The final (poor) yellow paint is gross but luckily the bodywork doesn't appear to have been over d/a'd i.e. the radii etc. are still good, consequently another colour change would probably be nowhere as much work as the previous work.
It would be a great car for someone who wanted their own specific finish (I still think it looked best in the blue/black pearl). Presently I'm putting the same colour over white on a '73 DHC Elan and it too should look stunning.

Thank you for all the calls. I tried to return all the messages and I apologise if I missed yours. The car sold for £34,500 this afternoon.... certainly a fair price for an LP400S in average condition. I'm sure whoever it ends up with will never have as much fun as I had with it. The sports exhaust had me banned from Castle Coombe and Goodwood and although it only had the "economy" 40DCOEs it ate two Ferrari TRs at a Kent HP day at Brands. At one of Mike Pullen's Goodwood days it returned just on 1 M.P.G for the day (and one and half sets of rear tyres)....but it nailed my grin to my ears!
Adieu to this forum. I'm going back to Elans.
