Hi Guys,

My heater fan is playing up, I've got it out and I need a new fan. Noble will only supply the complete heater box at *cough* £550 plus VAT so after a stripdown found a Smiths sticker with the numbers 1368-820-01 and L/Rover on it. I've tried everywhere to track one down and find out where it comes from.

Any ideas???

Hi Dave,

presumably it's the electric motor that's playing up. Can you not get it rewound/refurbed? While you've got the heater fan out - can you see the heater matrix and if so, any markings on it? Like you, I'm a bit put off by factory prices and need a new matrix. Haven't been able to determine what car it's from as yet.

Cheers, Bernie

Dave, just had another thought. Mail the pics to johncraddock.co.uk - they're specialists in Land Rover parts and should recognise it. Bernie

I'm just having a replacement unit fitted by Gary at crazy horses.

I'm actually a bit hacked off, as I bought a new one from the factory, and it's only managed to last just over 1 1/2 years.

Frankly I'd rather spend the money with Gary, and have something which can be repaired at a fraction of the cost.

Ahhhh, I'll have nice cold air in the cabin for LeMans this time !

Mine packed up a couple of years ago, cleaned the contacts/brushes and it's been fine ever since

I'm having a similar issue with the windscreen wiper motor at the moment. Not that many South African Volkswagen Beetles in Northampton apparently

Hello D G

Looks like heater boxes have gone down in price in the last couple of months. Had to have a new heater in mine a few months back and Nobles price for the heater then was £650.00 + vat.

Hi Terry,

I posted a while ago, trying to get details of the heater matrix. Did you have a new matrix or the heater box in the photos? I know your bill was pretty steep and I've shied away from replacing mine until I can find an alternative source for what I'm sure will turn out to be a pretty standard component if I can only identify it. Don't want to start taking apart until after Le Mans.

Cheers, Bernie

Hello Bernie

I was told that I needed a new heater assembly, so this is what I went for, however I was talking to the factory on Thursday and it would appear that the unit is in two parts and they only replaced the half that was behind the dash although this was still £650.000 + vat plus labour 15 hours at £75.00 per hour + vat.

ScensoredT my blower has packed up too!
Is there any information on heater box strip down available?
Some detailed instrutions on how to get access to the blower would be a good start.
Any ideas?

I've got one for sale, the outer casing is damaged but the fan bit you pictures is all intact and fully working.

Make me an offer!
