Hi guys sorry if this is a repost but I would like to know if there are published guidelines for the correct placement, calibration and operation of all fixed and mobile speed detection and recording equipment, together with personel conduct and attire.
In short what are the BIB`s operating procedures, and how do we know if they are complying.
I am not interested in unsubstantiated responses, consider this a court of law.
Facts please, web sites or HMSO ref no`s acceptable.
Mind you the odd answer on a tenner not refused either.
If you don`t know don`t go, cos i`ll be asking for your source.nono

I am not sure what you need about the 'court of law' comment but...

The document you need is the ACPO Code of Practice.

Google will find it, its a pdf file. That gives you an overview of all devices and then it will refer to you to the operating procedures in the instruction manual of the specific device.

These are the only procedural documents I know of.

However, if you are interested in what will stand up in court, then I have found to my substantial financial cost that to be frank the procedure matters not, and the operator can be riding backwards wearing a clown suit, targeting you at any distance they want from behind their backs, and if they say they were aiming at you and there is a figure on the device, then there is little you can do.

Unless, there is a video of the procedure of course, in which case I would refer you to the first 60 pages of the year long thread 'LTI2020 Strikes Again...' thread where Peter has been trying to get the right evidence sent to him for over a year.

I am not sure what your motive and your situation is, but I hope this helps!
