Does anyone have any experience with the Bilstein PSS 9 system?

I really like the idea of having a system that can quickly be switched between daily-driver (ie decent ride-height and compliant damping) set-up and a track (ie rock solid and low) set up.

Is it as easy as they make it sound?

Hi Jack - I've got the PSS9 set up on my 996TT and although it's certainly an improvement over the standard set up it's not quite as easy as you make out! It's actually quite a job changeing the ride height (as it can alter the camber too) - not something that you'd do at the circuit probably! but the stiffness and re-bound change is really easy as each damper has a 9 position knurled knob at the end of it (rears are inside the car under the parcel shelf carpet, so about a minute to change and the fronts are on the underside of the front dampers so can be changed by reaching around the wheel but it's easier to take the wheel off to see exactly what you are doing as the adjustments are quite small) However I have found that I don't change them that often anyway, the ride is smoother than the OEMs on bumpy B-roads and yet nose dive under braking and corner roll are also less - so it seems the best of both worlds - Good luck with it I'd says it's certainly worth the outlay.

I considered them when I replaced the shocks on my old 993.

Concluded that I would end up not changing the settings much, so went for a set of Bilstien HDs from carnewal.com. The car already had M030, The results were excellent.

cheers

Ajit.

If you can wait a bit longer, I'd suggest investigating the KW suspension that Manthey Motors will be offering for the Cayman.

Thanks for the replies guys. So it seems that any Bilstein product will offer an improvement over stock? But like I said, I really want to keep the stock ride-height for daily driving (I use it every day) and would only lower it for track use. In that situation if I align for stock ride height, when I lower it for the track would it give me more Neg camber? Which is what I want for the track anyway. Or is it still not that simple?

Willr, will that system be as user adjustable as the Biltein system?

Not clear yet - likely to be more even adjustable for bump & rebound, but check out the standard KW info at

Or you could speak to Ray West at West tuning, who fitted my PSS9 and set it up, he's done a few KWs for comparison and is a very personable bloke to chat to over the phone;
