Anyone know the current status of the roadworks around the town? Last year it was like a dog's breakfast, seemed like most of the town was dug up. Getting to and from the circuit from town was painful and our usual drink venue in the square was disrupted.

Still a dog's breakfast, I'm afraid (it was yesterday!). The tramway has been delayed and the first line won't be open until November so there'll still be a lot of disruption. The station is awful at present with the whole of the North side just a great big hole with a building site around it. Don't expect much improvement in six weeks!

ditto that. It took me 45 mins to cover the 7 miles from my house to the station and that was at 9.30am on Sunday morning. I avoid the town like the plague at the moment and if you want to go to the parade a bus would be a better option. The town square is now off limits to cars and the parade will follow last years route down by the river and back through the tunnel to finish where it started in front of the cathedral.

Did any of the vintage cars actually make it UP that hill?!?

We normally watch from the little slope back up to the parade start and they normally struggle with that (something very funny about seeing 3 Le Mans drivers pushing the vintage car they are meant to be riding in).

Unless I'm in the parade again I won't bother going down there. It was bad enough seeing everyone leathered by the time I got round after behind all of the marching bands, but then getting out of town and back to HA was a 'mare. We did end up hitting the roundabout about 10pm though which was amusing to say the least.

That tram had better be worth all the hassles!
