Hey guys

Toying on the idea of building a GTR in the next few years. The thing is would I really beable to afford it?? My budget will be around the £30k mark.

If that is a possiblity the one thing that worries me is the amount of space in the car for things like luggage (thinking of le mans trips etc)

Hi Dave,

I think you'll have plenty of space for luggage...

....because at £30K you'll not be fitting an engine!!

I think you might have misunderstood what the factory meant by pedals!!!

Hey, just joshin' with ya.

Those that are prepared to admit it, say £50k plus for a decent build. £40K would build an Ultima, but you'll regret the omissions or possibly end up upgrading later.

Best of luck though.

luggage or friends

a simple choice

all my friend weigh more than luggage

so a toothbrush and a pair of boxers it is

hmm may be slighty out of my price range then I hope to be able to save 25k over the next 5 years plus what ever I could sell my Supra Twin Turbo for so budget would be at say £35k at the most. May have to go back to the drawing board on what to get next.

Naa...do it. Try to get ahead of the game with a pre-owned chassis and search around for deals on crate engines.

Where there's a will.....

....I've just contradicted myself, haven't I.

Well plan B would be to seek out a basic GTR (one without any extras) and then strip it down and pretty much rebuild it from the ground up and either replace or upgrade any parts and then change the engine at a later stange when I can afford it.

OK post good lunch!! Luggage and Ultima / Le Mans. This is a bit like sex and condoms. Yes you can do one without the other but where is the fun. Never thought of the Ultima as a luggage carrier, yes you can pack all sorts of kit around the car and get to Le Mans but come on guys Michael Schmumacher never packs a picknick. Get someone to carry your luggage and have a good time (sorry Bruce).

Yo Daston, go the used route, do Le Manns this year, travel light, you have side pods, and behind passenger seat, then do what you want ie strip down etc, over winter, sorted thumbup should get a tidy motor, with your budget.

cheers for the insite guys

If I do go the ultima route (very likly) I think I will go with the Basic GTR kit and add on the parts I really have to and drop in a standard chevy small block to begine with.

One question is the getrag box the same as a supra's 6 speed getrag box as these are fairly cheap and can take up to 800bhp in stock trim.

The Getrag used in the Ultima is a transaxle.

Well was a good idea apart from that major problem.

For 30k, you're WAY better off just buying one! Plenty of good examples at that price.
