Hello all,
In the manual and generally speaking, it states that the warm idle should be around 950rpm.
When starting the car from cold, say in the morning, what should it be idling at?
What is everybodies CERB idling at when they start it up first thing in the morning.
All idles appreciated.
Cheers

the ecu cannot 'physically' adjust the idle speed in the way a corvette or any drive by wire or cold idle selenoid setup can. it only adjusts the idle by fiddling with the ignition timing (and fueling based on lamda readings, i would guess). at cold, the ignition timing is about 36 degrees advanced, at least it is on mine. once warm its at 17 degrees or so, so i have no problems with it idling low when cold as i know its not running 'as it should be', not like when its warm.
my honda jazz idles at 1400 when cold and 750 when warm. i haven't looked at the engine to see if it physically adjusts the throttle nor asked around to see if it somehow messes with the timing to make it do this. 600+ rpm would seem a bit much just to be adjusted with just fueling and timing though.

I can understand the higher idle when cold and dropping when warm (like a good old choke?) but not the other way round. My Audi idles at about 1300rpm for the first 30 secs of a cold start then drops to about 900. Im not worried as iirc Austec set the higher idle when they mapped the car last and it runs fine (when its working that is). They did tell me why they did it but it goes in one ear and straight out the other
