i think later cars had the wick turned down. I couldn't get more than 7500 out of my Sagaris. The 3.6 is supposed to rev over 8000 and the 4.0S to a cut out between 7800 and 8000. I've been told earlier cars were more up for it.

4.0/RR/S/Sagaris will hit the rev limiter at about 7350rpm.

I think the 3.6 engines rev higher.

Pointless going over about 6800rpm on a 4.0 as this dyno runs shows. Not to mention added wear to the engine, which of course the speed 6 is very liable to.

My 4L RR bounces on the rev limiter at 7850.

The 3.6L before that did 7950.

Ive just run mine in and may take her on a roling road but not sure if i should as the new engine has covered 2000 miles, does performence get better with miles ?

Performance does get better with more miles although would agree with Whitey it's not worth taking them over 6800 RPM, nothing to be gained except reducing the engine life.

Yes it's a good idea to put it on a known rolling road ie Surrey Rolling road, so you can compare with other cars. In particular you will be able to see if it's fuelling correctly, as a lot of speed 6 cars run lean. Performance will get slightly better with miles and of course if it has just been tuned, correctly.

As for bhp, what is the spec of your engine?

there was a lot of point going over 6800 in the Sagaris if you wanted to, say, go really fast. It also helps keep the CR box on the boil. The S6 is wonderfully top endy and the fireworks really happen over 5k. Revving out higher in the lower gears is definitely making the most of the cars, especially on the track as you can hold a lower gear. change up religiously at 6800 on the track and you'll be in a gear too high for some corners. Again with the CR box in particular, you might not be making the most of the car's performance.

W 4.0 TUS, on the Surrey rolling road, I would guess power at the flywheel would be between 320 and 350bhp +.

Of course other rolling roads will give greatly different figures.
