Disco 1 on 265s and a 2" lift...anyone done it?
Discussion
Well, as the title says really!
Bought some 265/75s for my Disco 2nd hand, realise I might have gone a bit big. Don't want to chop the arches, possibly a mild camel cut at best. So I reckon a 2" lift is the way to go...has anyone done this??
Pictures? Recomendations?? Thanks!!

A friend has got 235/85/16 MT's on standard Disco steel wheels on his 1993 5 door Disco and to this he just bought a cheap 2 inch suspension lift kit from Paddock for around £200 inc springs/shocks (you can spend 3 times this but it depends on what durability you want and how much you want to spend), and a winch bumper (if you don't want a winch muper then you'll have to trim the bumper end caps) and it doesn't catch at all off road. One thing to bear in mind is the rims you mount them on, as I said this is on standard off set Disco steel rims if you go for after market 8 spokes/modulars etc then these run close to the arches and may catch. I on the other hand have gone a bit more extreme with my Discovery and have a 2 inch body lift, 3 inch OME suspension lift, cut the arches etc and I've got 36x12.5x16 Simex's on 10x16 Mach 5's
Also had to upgrade a whole host of other items to cope as once you get to those size tyres they destroy half shafts, CV's, Diffs etc so its all been hugely uprated with ARB lockers and Ashcroft components throughout.

The plan is to put the 265/75s (I'd said they were 70s in my original post, now corrected) on the standard LR freestyle 5 spoke alloys (I really like the look of them). In addition I'll lose the front airdam and trim the bottom off the endcaps flush with the new pumper height, and if required I'll give it a mild camel cut to the rear arch but that's it, if I start having to chop doors up etc I'll leave it as is. All this will be with a cheapo 2" lift from MM or Paddocks.
I've been advised the bumpstops might need doing otherwise the wheel going upwards can foul the bodywork.
I've also been advised that the shocks you get as standard with a cheap 2" kit don't actually give you any more articulation, in effect your axle would be "parallel" with where it was before the lift, lower, yes, buut still parallel if that makes sense. So I might get proper off road shocks too and do the brake flexis.
