Hi guys
I'm new to this forum malarky,
after years of promisinG myself a TVR, I finally got round to getting a Cerbera 4.0 speed6. Havn't had chance to have a proper play as its rained every day since I've had it so far, normally this would be problem, (this is the guy who took out his ducati in the frost to practice getting it squirly) but every, bar nobody is telling this car is bit of an animal, make that monster. and pranging it 2 days after having it is not necessary for life.
Anyway there is slight judder coming from the front when braking from higher speeds. so I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the discs are from a parts bin some where? Or are they in house jobbies? I've also heard that they maybe APracing units.
Very grateful for any help, part numbers etc.

Thanx

Hi Paul, and welcome to pistonheads,
a good place to start is with the search function at the top of the page,
Hit the search button then on the next page chose the advanced search
above the data entry box, from there enter say judder and select cerbera
from the box that has General gassing at the top, it's about half way down
under the sub section TVR, then hit search, a list of posts will appear
about that subject.

Phil
also it may help if you post in the cerbera areas I am sure the boys will
be very helpful with your problems, like size of medallion

Check the state of the pads and discs, but if they look OK read this article before you consign them to the bin:

You might want to consider some driving tuition. I moved from a Porsche to a S6 Cerb and it was a hell of a shock. Basically, you have to 100% drive these cars unlike a Porsche, which will compensate for your misjudgments.

I used Ride Drive who were very good.

Worked for me too.

There is another article around somewhere that I found a lot easier to read, can't find it right now - but the solution is the same.

Thanx guys
Some helpful comments & links
Gonna try the new pads & bed them in properly

Still waiting to see if anyone knows whether they are from a parts bin or TVR's own inhouse jobs

If you go the the forum specific to cerbera, just down from general tvr stuff, and near the top is an alternative parts list that should give you what you want, if not the search with pads should throw up a lot of information.

Phil
they call it an equivalent parts number on the cerbera forum, but it's the same as an alternative parts list.

Are you sure you are at the right place ?
page one of the list has this
Mintex brake pads :

Front MDB1292
Rear MLB20
and page two has a diagram of the pads,
most motor factors will be able to match up pads from a parts number.

I had this problem on my Cerb SP6 - I tried everything including stopping from 30 then 60 etc, sanding the discs and pads, skimming the discs.

In the end I had them replaced at Power and the problems never come back.

The discs are quite cheap.

As for driving a Cerb - stay off full accleration for at least a month and slowly get to know the car. It's always been fine in the wet but you have to stay off the gas pedal.

Cheers

Check the bushings in the front suspension before you go and change your discs.

If there is any bit of movement in them you'll get a judder in the front of the car under heavy braking.

I did a temporary fix on mine by shimming them 'til I get around to fitting a poly-bush set up to it.

Even if you change the didcs you may end up having to do this as well, so check it.
