could it be that the transmitter aerial is knackered so the system simply cannot pickup a signal?

Orange!!

I think PCM1 only works with vodafone and O2(used to be cellnet) sims. Orange works on a different frequency.

Thanks it is definitely picking up a signal....
When I go into Info on the PCS it is indicating that outgoing and incoming calls are barred....The SIM is perfrctly ok in my mobile handset...Does anybody know how to unbar the system??I've looked in the manual which is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard!

At least you can make emergency calls.

My PCM II (2003) just says "Telephone Not Available"

I'm off to an OPC next weekend and if they give me any ideas I'll let you know if it'll help
