I need to get 2 new rear tyres and have been looking on the net to see who and where I can get them from. I think I'm going to go for Falken's. A dumb question (my car is in the garage at the minute) what size of rear tyres have you got (18'' spiders)
Also can anyone recomend a sullier / fitter in and around the new malden / kingston area.
cheers
Gareth

I tried Falkens a couple years back when I needed tyres in a hurry and they were the only thing I could get quick (in lincolnshire!). I have sung their praises ever since, wet or dry they are good. Can't vouch for them at super quick speeds, too many BIB/scameras around.

I can't recommend Falkens - had bad experience with them recently, when one let go at speed in spectacular fashion.
Decided to change them all despite several thousand miles left in 'em and when they were taken off there was bulging and damage on the inner walls. They are cheap for a reason!

oh well thats living dangerous for you, i'm putting mine on a set of 18" rl's. see you in the armco
I was considering heading for Falkens on mine recently - it was an unscheduled replacement of the fronts which followed soon after a new clutch, a service and a new set of wheels
- consequently the price of the Falkens was quite appealing. Had heard good things about them on here but when it came down to it as I was only changing 2 so I already had Toyo's on the rear I decided to stick with the same. Very happy with them all told, not by any means the most expensive but feel confident in their use at speed - would recommend them.

By "inner walls" do you mean the side walls on the backs of wheels that you can only see when you remove the wheels, or do you mean when the tyres were removed from the rims there was bulging inside the tyre?

Michelin Pilot Sports, although I can't claim that was as a result of rigorous research - it was mainly about what they could get hold of that day!

Bulging inside the tyre. Couldn't be seen from the outside, didn't look nice at all.
The tyre man reckoned that the Falken is a cheaper tyre, so there's less material in it, so weaknesses can develop further and faster..... Interestingly they needed a lot more balancing weights than the michelins. Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
