Well, after years of wanting to, I finally drove my first my first Ferrari in anger! I had the choice of a F1 360 spider or manual 355. I chose the 355 as it’s the car I always lusted after since I was younger. I was given some tuition from a pro then let loose on an airstrip circuit. I almost wet myself.

I used to have an M3 so I was used to rwd, what I wasn’t used to was the responsiveness of the steering and general sharpness of the car overall. Bear in mind this was a fairly high (for a Ferrari) mileage car and was a bit battered (as far as I was concerned this made it better) inside. I was usually one gear away from what I should have been through a certain chicane so I went quicker than I thought I should, and the car totally planted. It really was fantastic. There were also Lambo’s, Astons and a couple of Porsche’s. I couldn’t care less; I just spent the whole time looking at the 355 cloud9

This morning I have mostly been listening to 355 engine soundtracks on youtube and my girlfriend is getting pissed off. My reply to her asking me to stop being so sad and get out of bed and do something was, ‘I am not moving or turning my laptop of until at least noon, deal with it’!

Who wants to swap their 355 for one of 10 classic cars for a few hours, genuine offer of a choice of Armstrong Siddeley's, Daimlers, Silver Shadows and pre-war cars? As I said, genuine offer if anyone would like to drive something a bit different.

The 355 saving spreadsheet has started and I have already warned my other half she will be looking at blue and white striped tins for the forseeabe future when she opens the food cupboard rotate

Nice one dude Yes they are great cars, i love mine and yes they sound great. Though all the times that i have been on hard runs with other ferraris (CSs) i see the benefits of the F1 shift which is way way faster than my manual to grab them over taking opportunities

As you've found and mentioned above, truly great cars.

And your noting of the mileage - they work better with miles on them and being used! Seriously. They cost a bit to keep the cosmetics up to snuff (again as I think you found), but they run sooooo much better (I took one from 10k miles to over 40k miles).

Future classic guaranteed. Will definitely be one of those cars that never hits that no man's land between great car and classic IMO. It'll just grow old very gracefully.

Good luck with the savings spreadsheet. It'll be worth it.

Jeeheesus that sounds good. Did the Porsche have an engine in it in clips 4 and 5?!

One reason as to why getting one is a viable proposition for me, is that my Fathers mate used to own Circuit Motors at Castle Combe. He has spent most of his working life working on race cars and exotica. Servicing will not be an issue which from what I gather is one of the major downsides of owning a Ferrari. In fact, it will probably work out cheaper than my BMW when depreciation is taken into account (thats what I am telling my GF anway).
