Between my wife and I we have 4 lenses, from a Sigma 10-20 to a 55 - 200mm zoom. All these lenses have different filter sizes, so although they will all wear UV filters for protection I'd like to find out which filter system other people use for multiple lenses ? I can't bear the thought or expense of having to buy 4 of everything !

I use the Lee filter holder with 100mm gelatin/resin filters

another option could be to buy standard round filters the size of the largest lens you currently own (or think you might buy in the future) and use adapter rings to mount them to your smaller lenses

it really depends on the size of your lenses, but for some quality filters the second option isn't cheap at all. my 240mm nikkor-w required 82mm filters banghead

a third option could be a cokin p series system, but their quality leaves a lot to be desired

lee or Cokin Z are expensive filters cokin P are cheaper but they all follow the same princple. one filter holder and various sizes of thread adaptors so you only have to buy the adaptors for each lens filter size

I have the sigma 10-20 too, looking for a CP filter I can use with others.

Probably the cokin P (or kood ripof) cause its value for money (and I've used on ok before).

But be aware, even with the cokin wide angle filter holder (1 filter) you will still get it in frame(Vinigarete) at 10-11mm.

I feel your pain. When i got the rodenstock 90mm with centrespot filter, the lee ring is an 86mm which obviously means twice the price...sigh

Simple answer is to buy step up rings to the largest size you are likely to need and then buy just one filter of every type in that large size. I've just done this, bought 4 step up rings to 77mm, a Hoya 77mm CP and a Cokin P filter holder (with 77mm adaptor) plus hitech filters to go with it (Hitech Filters)

I've got the B&W Kasemann circular polariser which is really very excellent indeed (see the sky in the cook islands photo!)

If you Cokin P with a Sigma 10-20 on top of a C-POL, the filter holder is clearly visible with the lens at 10mm.

Without the C-POL, its fine, that 4mm makes all the difference!

Go on, ask me how I know rolleyes
