Born through a whim of utter irresponsibility and showing little regard for my realistic financial situation I may have my old 5 litre RV8 to sell on:

56,000 miles
Full service history
H404 and V8D valve springs fitted about 10,000 miles ago
No stripped threads, weld repairs, rattles, tapping sounds, knocks, bangs or leaks. Just a good motor making 330/314 HP/TQ with the current ancilliaries (which I'm keeping). Rev's like a goodun with peak power at 6050 rpm and peak torque at 4500 rpm.

Without telling me: 'it's worth what people are willing to pay', what would be a fair price to ask before I advertise it?

About 10K if it's a Chimaera or 15K if it's a Griffith.

If it's only the engine - about a grand.

Surely with that mileage and 10K since overhaul and without ancillaries it's not worth very much - a grand at most.

Thank's for the replies men. I'll just clarify one or two things which I'd made a cock-up of in trying to create a list when speccing the motor: (1) Just the engine is going, (2) The cam, followers and springs were changed about 10,000 miles ago; it's been dealer serviced twice within that time. Actually since I've had the car, the engine oil and filter have been replaced many more times than would be required (full synths and filters receipted for).

I'm in no hurry for it to go; it's actually a bit sad as it's the heart of the car which has been a trouble free and known quantity having given me 18,000 miles trouble free fun.

Hi Clive, will be putting a larger capacity motor in there, something along the lines of Jeffsy's; been trying to budget for the likes since last year. There are reasons for taking this particular route and I'll be doing the transplant myself; I intend to start a new post in the Griff forum and explain my reasoning and feedback progress. Just need to finalise the spec and be 100% commited by getting the deposit off.
