Sorry chaps, but I'm a bit stoked about this GT2. Went out today in the spitting rain ended up in a bit of a downpour on one of my favourite roads.

It's a bit like when I was a kid running about when there was ice on the pavement, sort of "whoa! still standing up! woo hoo!"

Certainly a car demanding a heap of respect and some control needed around the turbo "rush" point but unless I'm missing something or driving like an old woman (or both -- pretty likely!), this car is really a nice thing to try and go quick in. So much feedback, such a responsive throttle, it's just a wonderful tool.

I just can't seem to get enough of it!

And to think I've been put off GT2s by the "widowmaker" BS coupled with my knowing that I'm not exactly Nigel Mansell (although I can moan like him).

Totally hooked on this car...

Insurance coming up for renewal soon, time to change to a company that'll give me a decent deal on a track day. 10% excess! Sheesh...

Had a big moment in my 530D today coming home on a well known road hustling to keep the chinky warm for the missus.

Lost the front end due to aqua-planing....

Rear tyres on a GT2 are 315, thats 100mm wider than my BMW and a GT2 will always loose the rear end first when it hits some vasser.

Please don't push the laws of physics too much

Indeed, but don't underestimate how much water the front tyres have already displaced before the rears come through.

SM, not trying to come over at all patronising, i don't know what your experience is. I have lost control of a 993 C2 through Aquaplaning on a straight road cost £13K to fix and i have been much more careful in the Porker since.

You will find the rears don't follow the fronts in the important inside edge, there is about 2.25 inches where the tyre at the rear meets fresh road plus splash from the front. With negative camber which all GT2s have , its also the load point of the car, so is highly vulnerable.

GT2's going out in the wet just fills me with horror and its nothing to do with the power or widowmaker thang.

Not massively related to this thread but almost wrote off my new 964 at the weekend, came off a 'normal' road onto one that had just been laid with stone (badly signposted) at a decent lick...fishtailed left to right and left again, missing a lorry that was pulling out and a telegraph pole.......Got it under control and escaped with a couple of stone chips......Went home for a cup of tea and a sit down after that.....

Hardly a rain-soaked motorway.

After driving Tim Chandler's Gt2, I can see how addictive one can be. If I
had that kind of money to put into a road car, I'd definately take one over a GT3

OH NO!!!
Steve I've listened to you fighting the GT3 corner for so long now
that I decided to buy a GT3 rather than a GT2.

So no are you now saying that the GT2 is the better drivers car...

That Kayc fellow is currently sorting out a way of driving a 993tt quickly..ive come to the conclusion so far that i need legs like Ben Johnson and arms like 'Arnie'..and you think a GT2 is a handful!

You need to see what Alan (Aceparts) does with his 993TT, he should be at oulton on 20th July.

I have had one for 5 years and tracked it but i never got the angles Alan gets up to and its fast as well.

Assumed Kayc was refering to the brakes, the accelator only goes down, as far as i know, mainly to the floor which is where it lives happiest
