I know this topic may be a potential minefield, but here goes anyway.

Am I the only person who thinks that the TVRCC logo is looking a bit tired these days? The TVR logo bit is obviously ok, but the Car Club text in that old fashioned 'script' font looks like it dates back years and years.

The vast majority of the Car Club people are unpaid volunteers and put in a huge amount of effort on our behalf, so I don't wish to appear ungrateful or critical. But I would guess there is more than one designer in our midst who could give the logo an update?

I'd also love to see the merchandise move into the higher quality stuff like you see in Fat Face or Crew Clothing. I know it would be more expensive, but I'd rather pay £50 for a really nice 100% cotton, stonewashed rugby style shirt, than £30 for a more old fashioned 'woven/knitted' style one. Just a thought.

What do people think about the logo thing though?

I agree, I have been a member of the club for 2 weeks (had the Chim 2 weeks 1 day!) and have put the sticker in my car. The gf's first comment was it looked dated, now I can't help but look at it and agree.

This is in no way a criticism, just an observation.

Cheers

I agree with you there, mate. The "brush scrpt" bit has had its day. The standard of service whenever I have had dealings with the club office and the quality of Sprint are top notch, but a 21st Century logo, with a bit of class would do no harm at all.

Ditto the regalia. That is why I tend not to buy any.

I fully agree, when i was sending out a news letter to our region (c3c) recently i was very inclined to change the logo. But then you loose identity - usual corporate image bla!

TVR purple instead of that naff red would be better. Maybe we should start an inde design idea and then submit it - any takers, any graphic designers that want to get involved, knock up something in a jpeg format and lets post it on here for reaction

Heres what I could manage in the spare half hour I had this afternoon, with a crappy TVR logo I had to get off the net.

Just a spare half hour then today? So what did you so for the rest of the day?

Thats good work Mrs Fish. I had though about something that said 'Car Club' in the same stye as the model names on the cars - e.g. the same font as 'Griffith' or 'Tamora', in an oval shape.

Unfortunately I suspect that the wide range of regalia means there is a lot of stock out there with the current logo, making it an expensive exercise to change it. Re-branding always costs I suppose!

while your about it why not get rid of the 'car club' bit and have something a simple as just 'owners', the car club bit suggests 1934 running boards and tweed jackets etc

good to see some people thinking about it though!

Except that the TVRCC make a big deal about it being an enthusiasts' club, not an owners' club. Everyone welcome even if they haven't got one etc.

I'd also love to see the merchandise move into the higher quality stuff like you see in Fat Face or Crew Clothing.

Fat Face used to print logos etc onto their clothes. They did a 'team kit' deal where you could buy X amount of their 'Fat Sweat' rugby style shirts or T shirts and get them printed all at a discount price. Could be worth seeing if they still do it.

I guess there would be nothing to stop regions getting together to organise something if the main car club didn't want to change their supplier.

The info is most likely in their catalogue or possibly on www.fatface.co.uk

Point taken and no neither would I. I think they do a great job. However, some regions may want to have their own identity especially with the Tuscan Challange stuff going on and to my knowledge the car club don't do anything region specific...

Just a thought

Other than each "region" having a "regional" organiser and each having their own logo? R... p.s. I believe the wording has to run across the TVR logo as this is the only way PW/TVR will sanction the club using the logo. Rich...

By region specific I was refering to clothing as opposed to regions of the club and their associated logo's. I wasn't aware that the club would have region specific clothing made up...

I didn't put the TVRCC sticker in my car because I think it looks so crap. Which is a shame, because I have a strong allegiance to the Club and am strongly supportive of it.

Unless there was a groundswell of opinion I doubt it will get changed - after all - would you but a rugby shirt with the old logo on it if there was a sexy new logo out?
