massa had the inside line and alonso tried to bully him off it. I cant see how he can accuse massa of dangerous driving when he blindly gets back on the track in the middle of traffic. He's lucky not to have gotten mashed himself which seemed to be the theme of the day.

Have to say it did look like Alonso had got wheels infront of Massa, but also i would challenge that Alonso was teh one doing teh dangerouse driving, as he didn't look like he was all together under control with that manouver.

Hats off to him for having the balls and commitment to go for it.

but i recon that it was a 50/50 incident ..

edit - and agreed to the "pot calling teh kettle black" regarding alonso's return to the black stuff!!!

yes

Alonso is just a sulking little kid at the moment since he isn't in a car that is light years ahead of the rest, and doesn't have an inferior team mate.

Stewards did the right thing in not taking any action IMHO. All credit to Alonso for giving it a go and he did alright to salvage 6 points, considering what could have happened.

It's an over reaction on his part but all part of the same competitive make-up that led him to have a go in the first place. At least he tries to race.

Massa had the line and Alonso couldn't make it stick but no reason to start whinging about it though. I thought his reactions at the end of the race were appalling, no joy in him at all, hardly any congratulations for anyone!! He just has problems when he isn't winning.

Nothing against him he was awesome last season but i don't like people who behave like spoiled children cos they can't handle losing.

Rant over hehe

in my opinion, the only thing dangerous about it was when Alonso came back onto the track. he didnt stay left, out of the racing line, as seen as he was traveling much slower than the rest of the pack, he went to the right hand side, in amongst all the other faster moving traffic.

he nearly collected raikanen as he came back on line, and was lucky that one of the BMW's didnt drive into the back of him.

Absolutely.

I was peeking through my fingers as Alonso returned to the track, that could have been huge.

At the first corner, chap on the outside cuts up the other driver. Then at the next corner, he gets a taste of his own medicine, but he chooses to drive further off the road than is really necessary. That's my take on it. I don't think Alonso is in a placeto complain.

I thought that if Alonso had given Massa a little more room they wouldn't have touched and Alonso would have had the inside line on the next corner.

I think both of them were at fault.

Alonso didn't give enough room for Massa on the entry, and Massa didn't give enough room on the exit after Alonso got ahead. But the originator of the problem was Alonso.

Oh well, at least Alonso had the guts to try something like that. Too bad it didn't stick.

I must have seen a different race from some of you folks. Thing is, I must also be seeing a different replay on youtube.

Alonso was ahead of Massa well before the bend. In fact, you can see that his wheels are ahead of Massa's even before they have come past the solid line that marks the pit exit.
Alonso didn't chop Massa at the apex. Massa was on a near-normal line across the kerb - a moment later you can see Hamilton take almost exactly the same amount of kerb as Massa. If anything, Alonso gave Massa more room than he might have done, considering that he was by now in front and had the right to the line. One wonders how restrained Schumacher would have been in Alonso's position.
At the exit, where it went wrong, Massa is plainly forcing Alonso off the track and onto the grass. It was not clear whether Massa was acting intentionally. It's as least as likely that Massa slightly overcooked it and his car was understeering, rather than his steering into Alonso's on purpose. Unless someone saw in-car video of Massa, only the Ferrari engineers will know which it was.

If a car has come from behind you and is now ahead, as happened here, you are obliged to give him racing room, which Massa failed to do.

Alonso was slightly ahead, but then chose to turn in earlier than was sensible, this forced Massa over the inside kerb, half massa's car was off the circuit trying to avoid a colision. You cant just turn in on someone when you are alongside with just 1/4 of the car ahead, thats just stupid and will guarantee a colision, even if the other driver tries to avoid it. 100% Alonso's mistake, he should have turned in later, he probably would have pulled the move off then.

Look at the footage at 24 seconds on that youtube video, massa is right up on the kerbs trying to avoid alonso.

I dont think Alonso was that far ahead. If he was 1/2 a car ahead i'd say you sould admit he's ahead but a few inches... Alonso knew the ferrari would be there and decided not to allow it enough room to go through the corner together, probably hoping Massa would let him take the corner. Massa probably thought "up yours i'm on the inside were 90% side by side so it's your problem". And he was right.

Agreed. He's a sulky little prick who is upset because he's being shown up by his team mate.

Loser.

Alonso never had track position, the overtake manoeuvre relied on Massa getting out of his way, which was never going to happen.

The reckless action was the way Alonso returned to the track, that could have caused a major accident.

Nothing wrong with that, Massa just held his ground. A cheeky move by Alonso that didn't pay off. Worth a try but pointless moaning after the race just because it didnt pay off.
Stiil, another solid drive by Hamilton and Massa. Both could soon be number one drivers in they're respective garages.
Roll on Monaco!!!!!
