Market for Turbo + GT2 dead ?

While chatting to my local dealer today, hoping to get my missus a Boxster, I asked in passing what the dealer would offer me for my GT2.
After a sharp intake of breath, the dealer said that while they couldn't get their hand on enough Boxsters, with them flying out the door no sooner as they've got them in stock, the 911 Turbo / GT2 market is dead as the proverbial doornail.. and couldn't shift them even if their lives depended on it.
What's that all about ?

I took my 328i Sport into BMW dealer for a trade in for an M5.
Much sucking of teeth and whistling. Ohh the market's dead, old shape, no-one wants them. Offers me £4k under book value. I tell him where to shove his M5.
So I then wait a couple of days and ring up pretending to be looking for a mint 328i Sport. Again, much sucking of teeth. Rare as rocking horse sh1t apparently. Expensive. Everyone wants them. He can get me one for £4k OVER the book trade value.

The whole economy (global) seems to have a problem,there is no inflation & pricing power in industry.In general the euphoria of ever increasing house prices has at best stalled.I really don't see things picking up for a while,maybe late Q3 at the earliest.Better time to be ready to buy if you ask me,,,,but you didn't!!..So why not just enjoy an amazing car...I thought the GT2 was a very limited number car..within a year or 2 there will be more Carrera GT around than GT2.the car will always be sought after.
Precisely why I'll never sell my beetle; I'm simply going to blow my entire inheritence on modding the out of the little bleeder and then driving until I fly into the sea off Thurso's most northerly pier at in excess of 215 mph.

Probably a simple case that those people who want them and can afford them are already in their vehicles.
I believe after the initial demand Porsche raised turbo/GT2 production to higher levels than expected. Personally this allowed me to take delivery after 9 months rather than the 18 months advised at the time of ordering.
This does back up comments I have made to my younger brother though, in that for every month he puts off buying a used example he's saving himself £1,000. I still think he'll sign up to the cause by the end of the year though.

I popped over to AFN Guildford,Surrey a week or so ago and viewed a GT2 for £116k.
If you`re looking to sell your GT2 then a trip south to Surrey might be worth while.
I`m looking at getting a GT3 and have had no luck searching this Site for info, so what are they like?
I was with GuyR ( black 993 RS)at Goodwood this weekend and missed the chance of a chat with a GT3 owner as we were far too busy gassing with the owner of a bright yellow RS.
Bruntingthorpe in June would be good!

jesus I thought it was just us peasants who got treated badly at car dearlers I woulda thought spending £110k they woulda bent over backwards to get your trade again. Like you said your looking to buy a boxter.
Any how a quick look on the times car locator and I have found 3 GT2's for sale 2 for £95k and 1 for £118k
they are trying to make £15k profit form you at least nice incentive to go back to them not

Search under Porsche forum last six months and the old and new GT3s have been mentioned plenty of times, either by owners of the old model, people with new ones on order, or by people pointing out information resources.
These are the search results (sorry for lack of formatting) to make your search easier. Some will be more relevant to you than others, but there are at least one or two with real world owner feedback, and some links have directions to the spec of the new car.
Using the search facility proper will give you hotlinks, that will be less hassle than digging out the info below.

They had a couple of GT2s there in December when I was there, awaiting delivery/to be picked up. I think that there are a lot of rich non-enthusiasts who buy the Turbo and GT2 for a statement and not because they are Porsche / track day fans. I reckon you'd lose about £10K taking a delivery in Jan and selling back to the dealer by April / May.
