How about A "communal Cerbie" amongst us all ?
Discussion
Right then, in the latest of my hair brain schemes, I was wondering how much someone would pay for Cerbie hire, while their own car is being repaired / serviced etc.
My spare Cerbie is sitting there doing nothing at the moment, and I was wondering if we could make use of it.
I reckon, and this is off the top of my head, that for £200 a week (£28.57 A day), someone could hire a Cerb out. That's a return of £10400 per year to cover servicing, clutch, rebuilds etc.
I'm thinking of people who've been let down by there cars when planning trips to Le mans & things like that.
You'd have to have a limit on miles, or an extra charge for excessive miles, due to how close you've put it to it's next service etc.
Am I mad ? Shall I shut up ? Would anyone pay £200 for a weeks car hire

I think its a great idea. I'm scared that if something LARGE happens on mine i'll end up with some moody hire ar in the interim. Think insurance will be the biggest issue. However, this company are supposed to be good for temp insurance, ive used them but never claimed www.dayinsure.com/
Actually, there's quite a bit to think about.
If the hire Cerbie breaks down, would the hirer's recovery company pick it up.
And what would the hirer do for another vehicle ?
Another way, would be for 52 of us to put £200 a year in, and use it for a week each, when our own cars are being serviced.
If you needed it longer, you could "buy" someones week off them.
I wouldn't want it to turn in to A business as such, just something to keep us all "Cerbified"

I was thinking that "long term" Cerbie owners might be a bit more sympathetic with the car, than someone who doesn't drive one on a regular basis.
Not saying, that a non Cerb owner would try & kill it, but I think you know what I mean.
That said BCA, you or your Dad wouldn't be excluded.
I wouldn't mind it going to the "ring" again either.
That's what she was made for IMO

Sorry HP, my question wasn't worded very well.
That policy you pointed to, I'm guessing that's for fully comp.
My question was,
If ever you hired a Cerb, would it be while yours is having some repairs / servicing done ?
Or would you be looking to hire one, if someone bumped in to yours, and it was off the road for a period of time ?

aha get you! I think the possibility to hire a cerb while mine may be off the road due to accident or longer scale service work (rebuild etc) would be something interesting to consider. but considering the regular occurence of clutches and other work that may take a while to sort this there could be quite a battle to get hold of the loan cerb
What about these exclusive car ownership companies can't you supply your car to them? They can worry about the insurance and legals?
Actually just had a look at this site (not quite the same thing but the insurance cost!£!£!£!)...www.tangentperformance.co.uk/faq.htm
