two things at once.

I've developed a rather spectacular creaking sound when turning corners or going over bumps. Sounds like dry rotted rubber on steel...oh dear.
More worryingly, I've also developed a strange 'klank' when pulling off. Sounds like someone tpping the chassis under my seat with a spanner.
Bummer.

Had both as well:

Creaking noise at the front was a broken front spring (And it was still driving ok! Only the sound at nearly maximum steering angle gave it away).

Metal noise was drop link bushes gone, and anti-roll bar bushes gone and brackets not thight enough.

Some noises are still there, but I consider it the exhaust thouching the chassis.

Good luck,

Rob

Sounds to me like the antiroll bar,
anyway to change the subject see your down for pistonfest, how do you fancy a convoy down - are you going for both days?
I would like to have a meet up anyway as you are so close to compare cars in particular spring rates (I think mine have gone a bit soft) & brakes your should be better as its a much later car.

If it is just a klank then it is most likely to be wear on the UJs or the diff.. If there is a ringing to the klank then it is much more difficult; could be any of the above or split diff. carrier beam, crack in the chassis, fk - I've got one myself, even after major fettling by HHC (still goes well though.)

Hmmm...It is just a clank, no ring to it. I've greased the UJ's twice in three months, and they seemed pretty solid when i got the car, no play that I could detect by grabbing the drive and half-shafts.

Sounds like its potentially serious, either way.

Though, I'm actually more concerned about the creak, which has become persistent and incredibly loud. Just driving drown the road sounds like someone swinging on a greaky door for a laugh, and turning the stearing wheel is horrendous.

Unfortunately, I'm in a position where I cannot take any time off from work, and this is my only car. I'm going to try to get over to RT Racing on Saturday morning...assuming they open then...going to call tomorrow. Other wise its going to be another couple of weeks. At the rate its getting worse, I expect something to drop off long before then...
