Help me choose a camera please
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Sorry for another what camera thread no really I am, I'm just looking for quick opinons. I have decided to go for either the Canon eos 400d or Nikon D80. I will be using the camera for macro and various motorsport, car photography and other general stuff. Not looking for info on lenses, yet! just which body. I have had a look at both cameras in the shops and I'm floatng towards the Nikon but then the cheaper Canon seems hard to refuse, aaarrghhhh, decisions decisions. How would we cope if PH didn't exist.
Failing this, anybody know of any good review sites?
Thanks.

How big are your hands
seriously I found that the canon was really tricky to hold. I have massivee paws though. I went for the D80 and love it

I did find the Canon a tad small and prefered the feel and build of the Nikon for sure but it wasn't enough to swing it in either direction for me.
I found the 350D/400D too small and consumer oriented. The Nikon feels more pro quality, and handles far better IMO, though the learning curve is steeper (based on my ownership of the 300D and D80). The D80 feels a league above the canon, yet isn't too expensive.
At the end of the day you are buying a system - Canon have some good lenses though so do Nikon. Canon seems to have a better range of wider, IS optics, yet Nikon has the 18-200 VR as a amateur walkabout lens and the godly 80-200mm F2.8's availible quite cheaply.
