ok ok so i can hear the likes of mad dave, chilli and veetwin (especially) sniggering; "and...?"

but for a newb on an sv650 carving up, (more like wittling!!), a patchy damp road i think i did ok.

the best thing is iv learned more about my lack of skills!!

weighing up my safety against wanting to go fast like an idiot (rather than a seasoned rider), safety comes first every time.

after hearing my older sibling tell me that his plums really DID look like plums after a nasty off quite some time ago now, i kind of have a picture of what i don't want to happen... and keeping up with an evo is enough for me for now

ah well onwards and upwards!!

i'll be eating up 911's next!!

(yea right lol)

I had a cracking encounter with an 800hp Skyline once on the Busa when i had it.He was on his way to a Jap car show nearby.I wasn't cracking the throttle right back but for a short while it was like bonnet in front,my wheel in front, bonnet in front again, then i pulled away,it was eh?,quite exciting. We both just sort of realised i think at the same time, what does that speedo say??and we both simultaneously(hard one to spell that when not used for a while:-)slowed down.

Hey, Spain is cool, pretty hot most of the time, empty roads, no speed camera´s so yeah its pretty good, I live about 30 mins from Alicante so have Albacete, Valencia and Cartegana racetracks on my doorstep practically, none are more than an hour away, going to be doing a trackday at Cartegena this year as soon as I get back to the UK to pick my R1 up

Nice work Ewan!
That's the first off your list. Tis very naughty and you'll be going to hell, for sure....Great fun though eh??!!

I had an AMG Merc sitting at the lights with me tonite. He just sat there revving the nuts out of it, so much so the car was shaking. I guess he was trying to get me to race. I took a deep breath, and took it OUT of gear. When the lights changed I just pulled away normally. He must have been doing his make-up or something, cause I never saw him again!!

Ah, just on the commute home! There's quite a nice Evo (7 or 8) that I see every now and then...he was up for a play the first couple of times....but he's learnt his lesson now!!

laugh

Personally I love getting into a racing crouch at the lights next to Mr Tin-Top Racer, revving the bike as if preparing for a scorching start, then when the lights change pootle away slowly, laughing into my helmet as he tears up his tyres trying to get ahead of me . . . childish I know . . . !!

I've sat quite innocently at lights many times in london not reving the bike at all and on green pulling away normally (in london this means briskly to ensure you're clear of the cars) to find the car next to me caining it off the line to try to beat me. In pretty much all cases I'll let them think the car is a match for about 5 seconds then show them just how quick the bike is. lol Its even funnier when the traffic is queued up ahead, I've actually back right off and watched and laughed when they have to stop quickly to join the end of the queue. lol
There's a pimped E39 M5 I've seen a few times who still trys this eveytime we're lined up next to one another.. however now I'm expecting it he really just doesn't get the point in not even bothering. But its still fun educating him each time. Funniest one was on my old R6 with a faulty coil pack (misfired off the line to 4k revs) dusted him.

I had an Evo trying to keep with me the other day - he was overtaking on blind bends, on solid whites, the lot. I turned around to check it wasn't a Copper and the driver was grinning and sticking his thumb up! LOL.

I think car drivers are well aware of how rapid bikes are but just like to see them go. I know I do!

Yup. Some like to see if they can keep up too. I was once shocked to out-accelerate a Scooby on a Bandit 600!

I'm shocked too! A mate of mine had a Bandit 1200 and he could'nt drop my Chim but the 600 he had before the Bandit had no problems. It was a Kawasaki something or other 636 or summat?!

Sounds like the Ninja ZX6R 636cc. Maybe the Scooby driver was just a big girl I rode the same Bandit again when I had my 7R and it was SOOOOOO slow. To keep up I had to ride like a total headcase, scraping the pegs, throttle to the stop everywhere. Strangely though, it was the most fun i'd had on a bike for a long time! hehe

Some of the best fun is had without going too fast. Modern sports bikes are just mental, my brother and a few of my mates ave em. One day I'll get round to doing my bike test and join em. Until then I'll just have to put up with getting my arse kicked.
