I took one of my mates out in the Chim for the first time the other day and got all the usual appreciative noises about the leather wrapped dash, nice silver rimmed instruments, alloy heater controls etc

As per usual however i also got the obligatory ewwww when his eyes strayed to the black plastic 70s style lumps of ugly that are the airvents.....

Has anyone looked at replacing these with something a little less nasty looking, or does anywhere do trims/covers for them similar to the ones Leven supply for the Griff?

I am sure i have seen alloy trimmed ones in pictures of other Chims but can't seem to track down a supplier for them.

Does anyone know where the original part came from too? I am presuming something from the British Leyland parts bin or similar.

Cheers

Al

yes
I fitted a set from Leven : www.leventechnology.co.uk/index.htm
They do lots of shiny bits, and i have most of them
Initially, I was a bit concerned that they reflected too much in the screen. But you soon get used ot it, and they do look so much better.

I was going to invite you to have a look, but have checked your location on your profile yikes

If noone else has one, i'll take a photo later and post it

Just to be clear, i'm not talking about the little ones for blowing air at the screen (i already have the silver Leven ones fitted there), I'm meaning the main rectangular air vents in the dash.

I see that Leven do covers for the Griff ones on their web site but they don't list them as being right for the Chimaera..

They do list them. Click on "latest news" and there at the bottom of the page.

Ah yes, so they are. Kewl, thanks, I'll order a set of those in that case. May actually order a few other bits at the same time seeing as shipping probably wont be cheap, hehe..

They were already fitted when I got the car,
Funny thing is the bloke I got the car from recons as its a later Chim 1999, they were factory fitted at TVR,
I always thought GM ones were fitted as standard?
