I'm getting a ticking sound from the engine every few seconds. But this only happens when I'm accelerating hard and the engine is spinning above 6000. Does this sound like pre-ignition?

Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help with an answer, but that must be one hell of a "tick" to hear it over A 6000 revving engine.

The only thing I'd hear on mine at those revs would possibly be the air con engaging / disengaging.... Or the timing chain snapping

I had something very similar. It was pre-det on mine with a worn cam. I would get it checked just to be safe.

thumbup I had this "ticking sound" on my Griff but you could it hear throughout the rev range. Turned out to be one of the exhaust manifold gaskets had blown. Hopefully it will be a simple as that and nothing more sinister! smokin

Thanks for the replies chaps. I'll try upping the octane and I'll have a word with the local dealer also, just to be on the safe side.
