I'm looking to get my wheels powder coated, question is I've used axle stands to support one side of a car, but how stable will it be if I use them for all 4 corners, it would be embarrasing if I came back to a belly flopped monaro!

Strictly speaking you aren't meant to but I've done it before when stripping a donor car for a kit build. It was a MK4 Cortina and was left on stands over the winter and was solid as a rock.

I have done it with jacks before with no problems & going to put it on 4 axle stands soon for wheel refurb so don't expect any problems

I bought a couple of spare wheels for just such an occasion, they don't need to be great condition so might be worth trying to pick up a set and then sell on when no longer needed, maybe even see if a dealer will ¨hire¨ you a set to sit on?

The place I'm taking them to will complete in a day, so don't really want to spring for another set of rims, looks like it will be ok, so long as it isn't too windy!

You could use bricks?

Will the place doing the wheels not just let you pitch up and they remove the wheels, tyres, paint the wheels, refit tyres, refit wheels etc?

Did you kerb them or is this to restore them to a smoked chrome finish - was a bit dissapointed with them last time round as they werent totally what i was expecting and thought I had agreed

No I'm having them done black, so you can't see the brake dust. unfortunately the guys that refurbed them the last time didn't do a great job keying the paint and they are flaking, these guys take them back to back to metal and then powder coat which is a tough finish.

They should look stunning in black against the silver paintwork.

I had an Elise in that combo, think it was satin black wheels and it looked really good.

Suprised they are flaking when they were done at a cost of £300 less than a year ago.
