I'm on the 11.15 Portsmouth-Caen ferry on Tuesday 12th, then touring the Normandy beaches/Pegasus Bridge etc on the Wednesday before driving down to LM in the evening.

Anyone else?

Watch out for a red Datsun 260Z, an A-Team van and a Lexarse, and say hello!

The first 2 car parks (they DO like to just more people from one car park to another!) at Portsmouth are shared by the -Cean and -Le Havre ferries, so you have those of us on the cheap/cheerful LD Lines boat to exchange hellos with too.

...must remember to eat BEFORE hitting the port this year - the terminal food is crap, the LD ferry food was crap and the LD ferry bar hot dogs had 25% mould coverage on the buns. The rich people on the Cean ferry have nice on-ship food though I believe.

do the pegasus bridge museum first, and wait for the next guided tour ... well worth it.
you may also pick up info on beaches, cemetries etc from the museum.

Don't wheel spin in the carpark they don't like that

LD ferry was ok for us last year, as it costs us £500 for 4 cars v £600 for one on the P&O

Tony -

We're on the same ferry. Caterham, NG V8, Cobra, VX220 & A N Renter. We'll be certain to say hello and thumb a nose or two at those on the LD lines ferry.

Cheers Dazzled - see you there.

If you donn't see us in the cars we'll be the ones trying to sleep on reclining chairs and I'll be the one getting a slagging for not booking a couple of cabins!!!

And cheers Snotrag - I missed that thread (duhhhhhh).

And also F308Man - the museum it is. I'd better have a look at my maps and find out where the ferry port actually is!

LOL... the original is in a museum now, but it's marked on the maps. Follow the Canal south from Ouistreham and there it is.

Of course, knowing where it is and finding it on the day might be two different things :-)
