This one is a bit more constuctive though...
Meet Regie Babe, my girlfriends first car.
The car is going to be used to power an exhibit I'm building for a few local shows. Unfortunately the exhibit must fit into a 3mx3m plot. Regie babe doesn't, so some modifications were needed.
First I removed the doors.
Then I removed the fuel tank, brake lines and rear axle.
Heres a new fuel tank I made up. Its a 10 litre plastic chemical container. Ideal!
Time to cut through the roof. This took all of about 3 minutes. Having a sunroof made the job easier because I didn't have to cut that bit..
Then I cut through the floor pan and.. oh whoops-a-daisy it appears to have snapped!
All that was left to do then was re-attach the rear axle.
And now you know how they got the idea for the Smart for2!
These pics were taken a couple of weeks ago, since then I've built a roll bar which also works as a top mount for the suspension struts, re connected and bled the brakes and plumbed in the fuel tank. It goes pretty quick now, especially for a small engined car. Mind you it has shed a fair amount of weight!

The handbrake is connected up, and for a while was the only way of braking. That was a bit sketchy at 60mph on gravel in such a short car though- things went a bit sideways
One of the driveshafts parted company with the diff the other day so the car needs a little TLC, then it'll be onto phase 2 of the project which is a little less exciting but some may find it interesting! I'll post up more pics as they come.

Probably! It'll get the back wheels in the air if you brake hard on dry tarmac 
Bit of an update- I never actually said what the car was for. Well here's a few more pics.
Wooden frame took about 6 man hours to make and weighs just 6 stone. It was attatched to the car using 6 tech-screws!
Obviously it's far from road legal so needs to be trailered about.
£15 green tarpaulin was vital in the transformation.
And the finished article!
Ok, so it's not brilliant. Infact it looked utterly shite but hopefully some of you will have worked out it's supposed to be a motorised jar of mint sauce! It was part of a project whereby all of Norfolks Young Farmers clubs (don't laugh!
) had to advertise a different item of local produce, and it was exhibited and paraded in the Grand Ring and the Royal Norfolk show.It was also due to be raced at the annual Norfolk Young Farmers Rally but unfortunately the starter motor went on the day!

I'll make some more videos of it taking on slightly more capable off road machinery when I get them. (that Mahindra was truly awful!)

I've got my eye on a Fiat 126 that's just down the road from me and hasn't moved for months. Don't know what I'll do with it but being rear engined it will no doubt inspire something crazy!
i'm just loving the craziness of this whole project! a motorised jar of mint sauce! 
i bet it must be a hoot and a half to drive though!
that would probably make quite a formidable off road dune buggy type thing with a few tweaks to the ride height and strengthened pillars!
