Hi all,

A mate of mine put me onto this game about 18 months ago. Now normally I get bored of computer games pretty quick but this one is different. I've been totally drawn into the world of LFS. So much so that I've now built my own website to help my fellow LFS racers to get the most from the game.

The game is really a racing simulator. You really do get a feel for the racing and competition side of motorsport. Now, I wrote some track guides and in them is videos, stills and data from telemetry analysis tools and it really shows off the game. So I figured I'd post here and get a few more people aware of this great game. Here is the most recent track guide I did. http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/trackguide2

Be patient - the page has a lot of photos and video so takes a while to load up.

If you do decide to try the demo promise me you'll get a steering wheel

Enjoy.

I think quite a few people here (including myself) have been playing this game since before version "S2" even came out. I actually remember downloading the demo of S1 before S1 was fully released. The most recent patch seemed to up the sounds nicely in the racing cars.

Another really great thing about this game though is the graphics engine, I run it at the highest resolution possible, 32bit, every detail and graphical setting to maximum, and the frame rate counter in the top left corner of the screen never drops below 90.

Very well coded program

You still active in the game mate? What's your LFS name? I'll keep a lookout for you.

I still play this, excellent game.

I race as Altrezia, but tbh until recently i've had shitty wireless and it kept disconnecting me, so I usually play offline.

if anyone wants to organise some races, let me know!

I am an event organiser myself I have just launched the Gentlefoot Formula Challenge. It's a dual class formula for single seaters. You have the fast V8 single seater and the smaller Formula XR sharing the grid - Le Mans style. Means that people have to be careful. There are penalties for making contact with other drivers so the cleaner you are the more points you score. There is also a proper judicial system.

If you are interested then go to my website www.gentlefoot.com and have a look at the LFS part of it. There is a forum in there with lots of info about the league.

Hey lads - juts had an idea. If you guys want a private server to run on where we only let PH forum members in (i.e. password protected) let me know. I can easily set it up and I've got a proper reliable 23 (shortly to be 32) man server available. Just have to choose the time when you want to race and send me a PM.

Go to www.gentlefoot.com/LFS/forum/index.php
register and send me a PM and I'll organise it

My Licence name is different to the name I play with (I can never remember which it displays on servers) but I play as CivPilot.

The Idea of a Pistonheads only server is great if you get a few more around for it, but whilst competative racing is great (your series seems very well realised) casual racing often works best for me. I still play the game but don't play it enough to be competitive on a race series scale.

Thats cool mate. Having fun is more about clean door to door racing than being fast. LFS is a lot like real track driving in that you do get faster and faster the more you practice. I'm still improving even after 18 months.

But yeah - let me know if you want me to run a Piston Heads night. If the numbers are too low we can always invite the ClubGTi, AlfaOwner boys etc along too. Maybe we could have a few challenges.

Have you read the track guide?

Go to http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/trackguide2 . That is the guide for the FOX around that circuit you were doing last night.

Also, I'll post the setup I used here http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/sets.html when I get home tonight.

I've now set up sections in the forum for you guys, alfa156.net, alfaowner.net and club GTi. There you can arrange any race nights you want to do and I'll supply a server for it.

And if you want to challenge any of the other forum groups you know what to do

Anyone still interested? Am considering whether to get another server to run the ladder I run but I could also use it for these race days/nights.

Fair enough - offer withdrawn. If you can't be bothered to take 1 minute to register I can't be bothered to set the server up for you to have your own private races. Besides, if you don't sign up I cannot communicate the private passwords to you.

You'll have to take your chances with all the wreckers in a public demo server instead if you want to.

Sorry.

It's not just the registration, its just another forum to check, there's already about six that I read daily, one more is just crazy.

I appreciate the offer, and I'm sure other people will take you up on it.

No reason why you would need to check it daily. The passwords would have been sent to the email account you registered with. But hey, foget about it. I can't really be bothered to organise this for you anyway.

Hi Gentlefoot, was on your server a few nights ago when it was running the FE Club track - was nice to be on a clean racing forum (no one ran into the back of my FXR with their FO8's hehe ) made a change from me - normally on the Fragmasters Oval with the BF1s

good track guide tho.
would be interested in a PH night - will sign up to your forum next week when i have some spare time (bit hectic ATM)
