Showing appreciation
Discussion
On my way into Oxford last night a guy came past me coming off the Golden Balls roundabout (yes, it really is called that!) on the A4074 the bike behind me flew past on the back wheel. Certainly cheered me up.
The question though - how do I say thanks for putting a smile on my face when he's disappearing off into the distance? Anything I can think of would more likely be used by someone as a rebuke for waking them from their slumber.

Not a lot you can do, really. Horn or lights will usually be taken as a sign of displeasure, rather than appreciation. Perhaps work on the paying it forward lines, and shuffle right a foot or so for the next few bikes you see filtering past in lane 2.5. That always gets a wave from me when I see cars doing it, as its becoming rarer.

I hate to say it, but less and less bikers say thank you when I do that... thus making you less willing to put tyres on the white line/cats eyes so they can get past easily. Still do it mind....

from all of us then You cant do it everytime, as sometimes its not the safest move to remove all throttle control while filtering, but most of us will if poss. cheers anyway
