Hi

So when I arrive at Beausejour campsite do I get to spread out as much as I want when I set up camp or do they have line marked on the ground limiting my camp size?

Anyone know roughly how big the plots are?

Deciding how many tenst and gazebos I should bring.

Cheers

your standard BSJ plot is 35sqm so that's 7mx7m. But they are not parked out so you can normally spread out a bit. However marshalls may ask u to shift about if you are taking the piss. Also, leave too much space between your car/ten/gazeebo combi and it may well get invaded by the late arriving belgian on Friday eve.

I think you'll find it's 7m x 5m = 35sqm...

It depends on how many cars you're taking really. This year we've got 4 cars in our group, which includes 5 tents (female won't share), a 6m x 3m gazebo for living and a 3m x 3m to act as garage for the Vette. As long as you don't take the Michael there won't be a problem.

If you park all cars inward facing your pitch have this as your width. At least all the cars get parked, and nobody should try to nick the space when the cars are out. Behind this we have the tents and gazebo. You need to make sure you can mark off your pitch though, and if required be prepared to be flexible. Our first year on BSJ I ended up parking in our neighbours pitch after bribing them with a beer or 2.

Good point, don't forget you need one pass per car and then that pass will give you 7x5 depending on how much anyone can be bothered to patrol it.

As said, if you leave a big empty space in the middle of your area you're likely to find someone in it on Friday afternoon!

If you take cheap gazebos make sure you tie them down well - they tend to take off in the wind and can do hiddeous amounts of damage to other tents and more importantly cars!

Im taking a caravan, and planning to put the awning up.

Will I have enough space? Does anyone have a picture of a typical plot at Houx?

Thanks

The pitch will be 7m x 5m - so it depends on the size of your caravan and awning.

The danger with Houx is that some of the plots can be tricky to get to with a van or motorhome(easier early in the week - progressively harder as the week goes on) and they may well have trees on them!

I have heard that some folks have got their pitch moved when they've had a van/motorhome/tree scenario, I imagine this is easier earlier in the week rather than later.
