Pikey windscreen washer - car damage
Discussion
I've just about stopped spitting about this one.
Stopped at lights today (why oh why didn't I jump them like the guy in front), and the lights were patrolled by three young girls -- central European / Balkan in appearance -- who were offering the usual once over of the windscreen with a dirty sponge.
No thanks. Really. No. Thanks.
She decided she was going to anyway and hopped up onto the bonnet to lean across. Which was when I shouted at her, but too late to prevent the bonnet bending and buckling, leaving a shallow dent.
I hopped out (lights still red) and remonstrated a little with her -- pointing out the damage with little effect. Lights changed to green and rather than hold everyone up, drove over to a nearby carpark, where I called Met Police control to register the complaint.
They were excellent (if a little hard to get hold of). Took all the details. Took descriptions of the culprit. Would I like to press charges for criminal damage? - I declined with an option to report it to a Police station. And they said they would send a car along to have a word and move them along.
I wonder what happened.

The worst bit is when she asked -- "can you describe them", and everything wanted to blurt out "yeah they were scum", whilst trying to remain factual about hair colour.
How do you describe someone as looking a bit like a Bosnian beggar without saying "Bosnian beggar"? I was horrified by my own words.

Don't worry they have the 'PC' versions of that when they collate the statistics. You did well.

Do you know 7db I'm horrified by my own thoughts some days. About a week back I dropped in at a Sainsbury's down in the South East. Not so far from Ashford Intl Railway station. Needed some stuff from the shop and a bit of grub from the canteen.
The car park was patrolled by young IC2 males; Balkan economic migrants / asylum seekers is probably what most people would have said, maybe even Bosnian beggars.
These guys were trundling around trollies, in theory offering a car wash service, though I didn't see much car washing going on, nor much actual selling of the service, just various pairs of watchful eyes looking at traffic in and out. To my horror, my immediate thought was that this would be good cover for casing vehicles for nickable goods, and the car wash trollies a convenient place to hide goods until they could be passed on asap in case of a search.
They are almost certainly genuine people trying to earn a crust, just commenting upon my prejudice.
I hope someone local can confirm that my fears were unfounded.

who is to say what your description of someone is, if that is the way you would describe someone then that is your description or part of it, nobody can tell you what you can or cant describe something as in your own words

Picked up my Children today and on the way home got stopped at the lights, A1 junction with North Circular.....
Anyway female as described above approaches the car, window cleaner in hand....Well I am normally very good at not swearing in front of the children, forgot this time...
I said no, but she started to draw a heart on the window, I shout at her to Fu*k off !!
The said woman then walks past the car, as she does she waves at Luke my three year old, who copies his Dad seeing as a great role model I am and shouts Fu*k off to her.....
Not sure how many parents have been in this situation, and to be honest this was my first time. I have heard that the best thing is to ignore them. This is what I did, biting my lip so not to laugh to loud. I just hope he has now forgot his new word, if not I'm in for it the next time he is with his Mum and a window cleaner thing approaches the car !!.

Or when the Mother In Law turns up....
Last time this happened to me was a few years back, stopped at the lights roof down sunglasses on. Pikey comes to wash the screen , I told him in a loud voice not to touch the car. He slops dirty water over the screen and (highly polished) bonnet so I pull off sunglasses and suggest that he might be hard of hearing while staring at him. he ignores and sploshes more crap on thr car. So I jump out and he then realises I am 6'2" with a shaved head (yes I look like a criminal ) and have a bit of a wild look (my mrs says when I get that look I scare the crap out of her hehe) , he runs off with me in hot pursuit. Damn they can run fast I never caught him. I did get his bucket and sponge as a souvenir though :-)
So I was back at these lights today, and stuff me, the windscreen washers were back. I had dark thoughts as I was stopped by the red light and she approached.
And then - blow me down - there's never one around when you want one - Met Police bike turned up. Popped his blues on and waved them off.
So thank-you BN07 B**. You arrived at a very opportune time.
