You going to LeMans this year? You have a right to, especially if you're doing nothing wrong!

TISPOL said:

Police and Gendarmerie forces have enlisted air support to help them swoop on "car crazies' travelling at excessive speed during trans-European rallies.
Last year French Gendarmerie, tipped off by UK counterparts, seized two high performance cars clocked doing 240kmph whilst participating in the "Cannonball Run' from London to Rimini.

The drivers spent two days in cells, were fined and the cars subsequently put up for auction - with one UK owner having to pay 88,000euro to buy back his Ferrari Spider 360.

Another two cars, a Porsche and a Lamborghini, were also seized during the "Carbon Black Rally' and their owners prosecuted. Their vehicles are currently awaiting auction.

Are they really allowed to do that?? seize cars for speeding then auction them off??

Weve all heard of or been on the end of massive fines in and around Le Mans, en route etc for some time.
The recent accident and pending court case from the Gumball is only going to cause it to have more press coverage.
My thoughts on going down to LM this year is dont put a foot wrong, they will just be looking for an excuse, more than normal I would suspect.
It appears from the various news reports etc that european police forces are clamping down big style, and with LM less than a month away what better way to demonstrate it.
In the words of the sargeant at the beginning of Hill Street Blues......
YOU BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

From that website:

In Europe road accidents are the biggest killer of people aged 4-25 and excess speed is the most common cause of fatal accidents - costing an estimated 11,000 European lives every year.

How can they print blatant lies and get away with it?
Studies have shown that accidents due to excess speed account for less than 25% of all fatal accidents. The biggest cause was innattention.
Nice to see lying left wing treehuggers who hate cars also have a say overseas as well as this country

Sorry -- I got that wrong --the study actually said that the excessive speed wasnt responsible for 25% of all fatal accidents, it actually stated - where speed played a factor, which is not the same thing of course.
