Had a quick look at the classifieds and the prices are confusing. Traditionally the S6 Cerbs have been a good 20% cheaper than the equiv 4.5. Looking at the 99yr cerbs advertised they now seem to be the same money. So either 4.5s are too cheap or S6s are too expensive OR people are happier with the S6 unit now (and I can see no logic in that)

It's got to be because its an older speed six engine. People look upon them as a ticking time bomb, and the words 'Do you feel lucky punk'.shoot

If you look at those ad's though Gazz, the speed 6's are advertised with dealers. The cheapest 4.5 is £15.5K, the speed six's at that price have been there for a while.

I'd look at the cars that have been "sold", to get a fairer view of current prices.

I'd say prices have bottomed out (thankfully). On average I think the S6's have done less miles and have been less likely to have been thrashed than 4.5's (paperbag), but then it's more of a true GT than a track machine, at least as initially set up.

The S6 issue is interesting. I think but cannot prove that Cerb S6's have had less problems than say Tuscans. The Cerb S6 is slightly lower rated than the Tuscan 4.0, did better bits go into the Cerb engines? Could any of the ex-factory staff on here comment?

Mine broke a valve shim recently and I feared the worst, but having fixed that & on testing in Dulford no serious problems were found at all. My old Tuscan's engine went west at 15k miles. banghead

Some buyers might perceive that an unbuilt S6 at 20k+ miles is 'a good one'. Maybe some people just don't understand the engine in the early Tuscans and the S6 Cerbs is basically the same design? confused

All that having been said there's one S6 Cerb on the PH classifieds, with longest and most repetitive ad I have ever seen, that seems to be asking a little over the odds (IMHO of course)

PS Not selling mine - see you guys in Ipswich on August 12th!

The main problem (according to the factory mechanics) with the Tuscan SP6 against the Cerb Sp6, was simply the oil cooling system. On the Cerbera it was a different and more efficient system. That was regarded as to why the Tuscan had more engine problems than the Cerbie.
