Gallardo 4WD light
Discussion
Driving home in my Gallardo the other night and the 4WD light came on on the dash and it started beeping at me.
Have read the owners book and it says its due to the oil in the diff getting too hot. Has anyone had this problem before and is there any way of checking the oil in the diff?
Have it booked in at Lambo London but thats not till next week

Thats strange??!
I was just thinking last night/this morning, on a very spirited drive home, along some quick roads (about 60 miles!). How well the Gallardo "Manages" it's temperatures compared to my 360, M3 CSL etc!
Must say i have never had that light on
Were you driving it hard?
Did it go off when you slowed down?

I was on the motorway at the time doing about 90mph. It stayed on for about 5 minutes and then went off for a couple of minutes but then came back on again and was constantley beeping. I then pulled over and switched the engine off and read the owners manual which said it was the oil temp in the diff.
When i switched back on againg the light was still on and beeping at me.
I am going to take it for a little spin tomorrow to see if it has fixed itself. Either way its going to Lambo London for a service and to get checked out next week.

James.
It's just the front diff getting hot, but it's worth getting it checked out none the less.
I've never heard of anyone else getting this warning light.
Like Dell, I suspect/hope it's just a dicky sensor. The front diff doesn't have a great deal to do most of the time and, assuming it had oil in it originally, there's no reason to think there's anything wrong with it now.
Good luck, mate.

Is there any relevance between front and rear tyre wear as in some 4wd Audi systems? The centre diff gets increased friction if there is a greater difference in rolling radius than tollerance will allow. Are your back tyres slick and your front new?Just a thought as i've come up against this before, albeit on Audi, subsiquently causing overheating diff oil?
