Just tried to open my Chim using the central locking fob and.....nothing! It is a toad alarm which is fitted to replace the standard one and the fob led is lighting up.

I presume that I must have left the lights on yesterday and that the battery has drained. It leaves me with a problem as there doesnt seem a way to enter the car without the remote locking.....

I presume there is a solution???

HELP!!!

Managed to get half way there with the assistance of Chris.

I am having difficult locating the cord. Is this fitted to every Chim? Mine is a 95 and I for the life of me can't find it. Could someone possibly email me with a description of where exactly I can locate it please.

I have found a cable in the 'location' but I think it pertains to the boot.

Cheers

Hi Big Al

whilst I appreciate that the information is sensitive, I have only had the car about 3 weeks and so haven't posted that much. I can happily supply a photo of the car and log book if anyone is reluctant to give me the required information.

I am feeling like a bit of a plumb.....new car and can't even get into the fecking thing to drive it

Cheers

Aidan

I suspect you were given bum info - early cars dont have certain features that later cars have

Get into car, open bonnet, attach trickle charger to alternator, wait a couple of days, you're back in business. Alternatively jump start it from another car, but unless you have the jump leads installed this will require taking the battery cover off and refitting it can be fiddly.

Hi guys

Getting into the car is the issue. The battery isn't secured to the floor so it will be quite easy to jump start once in.

Dave, a bit worried that you suggest that I might be looking for something that aint there! After all you were right about the indicators.....If so, what are my options?

I really don't want to mess with the hood in order to get it. I noticed the door gubbings were behind a panel just below the velcro when I was tinkering last week. My hand is too big to avoid doing damage though.

anyone who can help, my email address is aidan@thebrees.co.uk

Cheers

No, it isn't. If you think it's an issue then you are not seeing the wood for the trees.

Sorry if this seems obtuse and unhelpful, but some people are quite sensitive to this sort of information being published and I respect that. However, I can assure you that if you are looking for obscure hidden mechanisms you are missing the point.

I have a solution, because this happened to me twice with my Griff parked at my local garage. You need to lift up the front of the car and get under it with two jump leads or other cables with a clamp connector. Connect the leads to the chassis earth of the starter motor and the plus to the plus of the starter motor. Connect the leads to another 12V supply (Second battery or charger). Push the fob and voila!

I am thinking of putting two extension leads to the battery out of the door when I park it to prevent this happening. Might even put a cut out switch in between the main battery so I can with an external battery lock and open it.

Hope this helps, Peter

Crackedfinger does your solution also work with a new ignition key? I tried the owner's manual solution, but did not work in my case. Please PM me as well if you have another more simple solution.

Cheers, Peter
