Whenever I save my changes made in Picassa to disc, the sharpening that I have done is lost... all the other adjustments are saved but not the sharpness! Anyone else encountered this? Possibly a bug in the program I guess but most frustrating. Thanks

Im not familiar with that program but what are you saving the photo as? May be to do with compression, especially if your saving as a .jpg. Try saving as a .png or .tiff

do you select the "save changes" option under the folder heading (main screen)
this makes the change and creates an original backup

Think I have answered my own question! It's a known fault with Picassa apparantly that sharpening edits cannot be saved (or sometimes even exported). This has annoyed me sufficiently to drop the software and start learning Elements 5... which is a decision I should have made a lot sooner after a weekend with my nose in Scott Kelby's book and in front of my laptop... a lot easier to get to grips with than I originally assumed!

Still haven't worked out how to use layers properly but at least I can tweak my pics so that they look as good as they ever did with Picassa - AND I can save them as they appear on the screen!

Cheers
