Technical instrument cluster issue

A slightly odd thing has happened to my 2000 996C2. The digital speed readout, and computer read out (beneath the rev counter) have lost their illuminaiton. I can just make out that the display is still their, so the electronics must be working, but they are a very very faint shadowy grey instead of the usual illuminated yellowy orange. Curiously the odomoter under the analogue speedo works, and the clock / oil display all illuminate correctly.
Thankfully I have full OPC warranty, and I note that the instrument cluster is specifically covered in the booklet, but if there is any easy fix, or a fuse etc, I would love to hear from anyone!!
