Need TomTom Maps, West Europe

Is there a way to get these without paying through TomTom?

If i get somebody's memory card with the maps on it, then would it work in my TomTom if i used the memory car? Or what if they used their account to 'update' their TomTom but with my memory card in it.


Re-reading that it seems very incoherent. Cant think of a better way to say it so hope you understand.

Tom Tom maps are licensed to specific units, mainly to stop people like you stealing them. Pay up if you want the information and don't expect the rest of us to subsidise you through higher prices

(Not that I do that sort of thing - I've got several legitimate TomTom discs at home )



And don't worry about the piracy aspect - TomTom have been so over-zealous in licencing that I cannot transfer any of the legitimately bought novelty voices to my new PDA, and I downloaded the latest Western Europe map when it first came out, and had two rapid changes of PDA soon after, and guess what? I couldn't activate the map after the second change, because you're only allowed one change in 6 months - so I had to buy another map. When I e-mailed TomTom about this, they didn't even have the courtesy to reply.
