Go out to Mulsanne and Arnage (after dark for preference). Have a ride on the ferris wheel. Be around when the sun comes up - Dunlop Bridge is good. Do the pit walk on Mad Friday. Get out to Indianapolis on Friday. The drivers' parade in the town on Friday pm. The "ceremony of hands" in the Place St Nicholas in the town at 11am Friday morning. There's so much. But even if you do none of the above, you will have the best time. Oh, and the moment you arrive, visit the Rotunda welcome centre and book tickets for next year.

Charlie, Everything on this thread so far is seriously good advice. However, there is one "must do" regarding Le Mans as a newbie and that is to bring a pocket radio and headphones so you can tune in to the fab Radio Le Mans. It starts on the Wednesday and goes on to the Monday after the race, it's in English, and with it you get the whole picture, so without it you are missing out, whether you're there for the racing or for the side entertainment. Personally I cannot envisage being at Le Mans without being tuned in! R

Do not miss the roundabout on Friday night. Just be carefull where you stand as it gets a bit hairy at times and i think I could smell a hint of beer on one or two people.

And dont forget the trip there and back is part of it too!
Suggest you work out the old N138 route, have a great lunch stop,
pass or be passed by all the exotica on the roads down.
And the journey back on the Monday, pass the same cars
(some on flatbed lorries by now - mainly ***'s judging by previous years)
Once you've been you will be hooked>
Sixth year for me this year.

Visit the museum - did this last year, there's loads of great cars in there and it's a good opportunity to get an hour's shelter from the sun if it's really hot

But all of the links off it go to the 2006 programme. I'm still not sure if the Corvettes get to take part this year and what my Friday drinking plans can be.

The highlight of my first year was watching the entire nights racing starting at the Porsche Curves and heading down to Tetre Rouge. Get yourself some Grand Marnier crepes, early morning beers and watch the sun come up by the Dunlop Bridge. Also, the dodgems at about 8am was just the funniest experience before heading off to sleep for a few hours.
