Hi its me again
The car wont start it might be my jump leads are pants
Can i put a battery charger on the battery with it still wired up
or do i have to disconect it first as im worried about leaving it on overnight,
also is a trickle charge better than a fast charge.
please can anyone help as i need to move my car
Thanks Simon

Any sort of charge overnight will be fine. You don't need to disconnect anything, just ensure you connect the charger the right way around
Remember if the battery is totally flat and more than a year old it will now probably be knackered so get it replaced otherwise you'll be playing the same game.

Or charge slowly attach black to something on the chassis and red to the red terminal on the starter motor LHS of engine
Make sure you used a fully insulated croc clip if you do that! There is a heck of a lot of earth around that terminal on the starter motor, and as the starter circuit is not fused you'll get one almighty bang. Given that bang will happen right next to the fuel tank, you can imagine the end result if you are unlucky......

Thanks for that
What type of charger amp wise that is i have a ten amp one,
i was just going to attach the charger to both terminals on the battery.
Ive had the car about nine months its an dec 04 plate if its the original

does anyone what type it is or what it comes from.
Thanks Simon.

It's a type 075. You can get one from anywhere. I got Halfords one with a 4 year guarantee for £75. Buying it's easy - now fitting it, that's a whole new ball game ! www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=323627
