Hi all,

Someone I know is thinking of getting a 550 Barchetta, does anyone have any experience of these? What is that roof all about? Looks a bit of a handful like the Murci roof. Any opinions or experience welcome.

Cheers,

James

Not had any experience of these although there seems to be a few nice low mileage cars around for <£100k. If previous threads on here are to be beleived, the roof is more of an emergency roof and you can't drive with it on at more than 70mph. One of the cars for sell in the UK, appears to have a factory option hard top simlar to how merc used to supply hard tops for their SLs, prior to the current trend of retractable hard tops.

crikey. I can't find any links on here. I must have read or been told about the roof elsewhere.

Hi there,

Quite like the 550 Barchetta myself, I have seen quite a few in the past. They seem like good value now although from what I understand the roof is only a temporary affair and not suited to permanent use.

This has to be my favourite colour for one though.

With regard to the hard top I think there are a couple of versions on the market, in my opinion it turns a pretty car into a damn ugly one.

More pics of the hard top here: -

The hardtop is a mess. He understands the soft top is only an emergency one but doesn't want to have to spend an hour putting it on if it starts p*ssing it down.

He's lloking at one this coming weekend, everything should be answered then I guess.

Thanks
