How long are 9” springs ?
Discussion
May seem obvious really, but the springs fitted to the Nitron dampers are, so I understand nominally 9 inches. I just took the dampers off, put the front springs on the rear and put some stiffer springs on the front. By doing this I have upped the spring rate by 75lb all round. I expected the ride height to be slightly up on before but was surprised to find the front quite a lot higher. Prior to doing the swap I carefully measured the spring seat on each damper and used that as the starting point. Investigation reveals that the new 400 lb 9” springs are, with no load 9inches and all of the ones that came off are 8eight and three quarter inches.
So my question is ; is it normal for the springs to compress in use and if so how long does it take ? Driving around for a few miles has had no effect so have reset to 14cm to the chassis rails at the front and 14.5cm at the rear, which is about what it was before. Will they compress to a new working length after a few days or a few months ?

Goods quality springs properly specced for the application shouldn't sag. If they have sagged I'd expect to see some variation front/back and possibly from side to side. Springs lengths are normally nice round numbers, usually a whole number of inches. I do wonder though whether those particular springs might be metric, wouldn't that correspond to around 220mm?
