Well it was on the bike when I left the house and nowhere to be seen when I got back. Curious.

It's probably nothing more sinister than loose screws, but i'd get it reported to the Police anyway, just in case you start getting speeding tickets through the door.

agree , better to be safe than fecked with a speeding ticket or worse

Nobody stole it - should've made it more clear - I didn't leave the bike alone. The bracket snapped off somewhere on the A11.

I can imagine the cops 'really' believing that story if they pull you over!
I'd report it as stolen just in case.. you'll have a lovely crime number as a ref to act as a get out of £30 non endorsable fine for not having a plate and any associated grief.

I wouldn't know, I've never been above 70mph.
