Seat Reclining Mechanism - how to take it apart???

Hi!

My driver's S2 seat reclining mechanism is stuck, the knob won't move at all! I took the seat out and looked into the matter and I think some bits of glass got in there (under previous owners) and ...

Does anyone know how to decompose the mechanism? Is the central part (the one on which the spring sits - see below) a screw? Or is the thing assembled permanently -> and then how to fix it? I hope the picutre helps:


And one more quick question: had all the seats adjustable headrest? It seems mine should adjust (connected to the main seat with one nickel coated oval tube) but again it won't more an inch.

Hi All,

I have sorted my troubles by now. The mechanism comes in 3 parts really (the wheel + 2 adjusting pieces) and it was sufficient to clean it and apply force to the right part gradually (do not try to force the handle though! to get it unblocked and then clean/oil/etc. works fine.

Does anybody know the origins of this mechanism? I want to source a new plastic cover.

The headrests do move - if they haven't been moved for some time the tube may be very stiff.
I had to be pretty rough with mine to get it to move, working it side to side eventually freed it off.

Sorry if I wasnt clear, I was looking for the plastic cover for the seat recliner mechanism. (headrests came out of mine OK, I just had to clean up the little spring clip mechanism, remove and repaint the plates under the headrest itself and refit with stainless screws and all is well again in that department!)
